Geneva Ellen Keeton took her first breath in the big yellow farmhouse east of Ava MO on a chilly morning of September 14, 1947, daughter of Clarence and Lorene (Levan) Keeton. There in the same house, she took her final breath on the chilly morning of February 28, 2022 at the age of 74 as she gained her heavenly wings.
She was married to the love of her life, Lowell Gene McCullough of Mtn. View, MO on August 13, 1967. After seeing the United States due to education and the military, they settled back into the yellow farmhouse to raise their family and join together in a life of ministry. She deeply loved the Ozarks and the people who lived here. She walked these hills with a deep love of God who gave her strength each day. From her life came an overflow of love, ministry, and service to her community both near and far. Her work was always to help and encourage her neighbors in their time of need, and this was even reflected in her business pursuits. Geneva was always grateful for God's many blessings. She looked forward to seeing those friends and family members who were waiting on the heaven-ward side including her beloved husband Lowell and her mother and father, a Second Mother of the Heart, Billie Logan Keeton of Ava, and her Mother in Law, Georgia McCullough of Salem Ark . She had a fierce love for her family still remaining: daughter Genet Harris and Son in Law Gary of Springfield MO with grandchildren Ginny, Grace and Gabriella Harris; daughter Genessa Freeman and Son-in Law, Adam of Ava, MO with grandson Keeton Freeman; Sister in Laws Mary Layman and husband Charles of Cherokee Village, AR, Gail Pruitt and husband Mike of Horseshoe Bend, AR, and Deborah Bost and husband Dennie of Salem, Ark. She will also be missed by special friends and sisters and brother of the heart Joe and June Harley and Chrissy Voliva. She is especially missed by her dog Benjamin. A host of nephews, nieces, family, friends and Brothers and Sisters in Christ at Vanzant Baptist Church will miss her in their lives. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Ava Family Funeral Home at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Ava City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday March 5, 2022 at Ava Family Funeral Home from 7-8 PM.

Gennessa, our family is incredibly sorry for your loss. Geneva was always very kind and supportive through some of our family’s most difficult times when we lost our loved ones. We will be lifting you all up in prayer that God gives you the love and comfort you need in the days and weeks to come.

So sorry to hear of Geneva's passing. My fond memories of Geneva began when both of us were employees of Norwood School System. It has been a pleasure to see and talk with Geneva in the years since then. Heaven wil be sweeter because she is there!
