Jimmy Ray Nelson Jr., 61, of Ava, Missouri, passed away on July 23, 2022 at Citizens Memorial Hospital, Bolivar, Missouri surrounded by his loved ones. Jimmy was born on December 30, 1960 at San Diego, California to parents Jimmy Ray Nelson and Catherine Louise (Appino)
Jimmy was the type of person that to know him was to love him. Those that knew him would say that he was outgoing, charming, funny and an exceptionally good guy. Jimmy loved to teach his family members, especially his grandchildren, how to be sarcastic. Jimmy loved to paint and do woodworking. His family will have beautiful handmade jewelry boxes and game boards to remember Jimmy by. He also loved to put together model cars and at Christmas time he would paint ceramic Santa Clauses. Jimmy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. Jimmy used his woodworking skills to make crayon boxes for the church. He was preceded in death by his wife Ginger Nelson, his parents, and brother, Kenny. Jimmy will be missed by his children Sandra Gadsby, Jewel Nelson, Rebecca Nelson, Zachary Lilly, Jacob Nelson, Katie Nelson-Ocampo and Bobbie Porter, as well as his many grandchildren. Jimmy will also be missed by his sisters Darlene, Becci, and Laura. Many other family members and friends will miss Jimmy. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints (910 Shull St, Ava, MO 65609) at 12:00 PM. Cremation is under the care of the Ava Family Funeral Home.
