Linda Dianne Lyons was born on November 6, 1953 at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, to parents Walter and Elsie (Burns) Peck. She departed this life on November 7, 2020, at her home near Vanzant, MO.
Linda was a truly compassionate health care professional, having worked as a nurse in numerous hospitals from New Jersey to Nevada. She was a compassionate nurse who placed her patient’s care as the foremost thing in her life. She achieved many Nursing degrees to advance the care she provided for her patients. This earned her the respect and admiration of her co-workers and patients, including the March of Dimes Nurse of the Year in 1993, after being runner-up for many years. She went on to share her knowledge with other nurses as she taught nursing at several nursing schools. Linda also extended her compassion to her family showing them great love. She was deeply devoted to her family; there was another side to Linda that her family and friends loved as well. She had a great sense of humor and was a little bit of a prankster. They described her as a “person who never put on airs, she was just what you saw.” Her presence will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandsons Timothy and Avery, and sister Carolyn. She is survived by her beloved husband of over 40 years Roy; two daughters Patricia and Jennifer as well as one son Walter. Six grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren will miss her unique personality and love. She also leaves behind a sister, Sharon and a brother David. A memorial service to remember her life will be held at a later date. All arrangements are under the care of Ava Family Funeral Home.
